Yes, I agree!

Unless there's a superhero in the mix, because Thor could easily pick up Natasha or Tony or whatever.

Chris Hemsworth could easily pick up Scarjo or RDJ. Even without the camera tricks, he's a pretty big guy.

Sort of depends on the fandom.

Because there are superpowered beings(superheroes, supervillains, werewolves, vampires, wizards, etc.) with the means to easily do that in several that I can think of. Plus there are a few characters that are into weightlifting workouts or are firefighters that likely wouldn't have much of an issue depending on the person they are lifting. And then there are those whose canon has shown them easily lifting someone unconscious even though they probably wouldn't be able to in the real world.

I mean I kind of enjoy the "shockingly strong for his size" trope. And sometimes it's not too far from realistic. I have a couple of naturally muscular guy friends who are shorter than me, but who can lift me pretty damn easily, even though I'm only maybe 30 pounds lighter than they are.

But there are definitely limits to believability. If the liftee is already slightly smaller than the lifer in canon, and that size difference is commonly emphasized by fanon, then it's probably going to work for me in fic. But if you tell me that Tony lifts Steve, or Dean lifts Sam, or Stiles lifts Derek or something, then yeah, my brain is probably going to scoff incredulously.

These are good examples.

Does one of your fandoms involve a secretary, or did you just like the picture?
