I agree with Anon above - invite them to something you'd enjoy that is kind of 'on par' with a bar, moneywise and 'easy to get to' wise. If they only want to party at the bar just around the corner, don't ask them to trek to some far-flung location but, yeah - try that.
(I hate bars, too - so not fun.)
