a neurologist to get a differential diagnosis. a GP can only give painkillers but doesn't take it further. it's basically to rule out anything more serious

Plus, if you are getting them regularly, the way I used to, there are control meds you can go on that can at least cut down on the number of migraines you can get. And a neurologist is the one who will help you find the best one.

It's also a good way to make sure it's actually migraines you're having, and not another form of debilitating headache, since not all treatments are equally effective on migraines as on, say, cluster headaches.
