Breakfast on Pluto was decent, but I didn't really like it overall; nor did I care much for the book itself. I loved Cillian's performance but the movie failed to hook me.

I'm...in Irish Literature and Drama studies at University and to me, BoP told the same sort of story, of the same problems, and of the same pain that so many better Irish films capture beautifully. This one seemed like it was trying to hard. Like Pay it Forward, or Transamerica.

I love Liam Neeson's small role, though.

Watching the Detectives was awful and straight to DVD for a reason.

...And I loved Red Eye! It was straight forward, cheesy thriller fun and a great movie to watch and not have to focus much on. Hardly a good movie and it has no merit artistically. But it is entertaining, I liked it.
goodbyebird: Batman returns: Catwoman seen through a glass window. (Faith orpheus face reddish)

I'd be very interested in knowing the titles of those films, if you'll indulge me :)

Yes, very true, but I still found it charming to watch, and the one who posted the secret wanted Cillian with an american accent, so *shrug*

To each their own. I like plenty of cheesy movies :D

Well, if you like Cillian Murphy; I do suggest The Wind that Shakes the Barley. It's breathtaking and it hurt my heart to watch. Brilliant movie about the original I.R.A. before the Republic/Northern Ireland split.

Michael Collins, with Liam Neeson is pretty good. Liam Neeson seems to be the go-to guy for Films about History. (Schindler's List; He's set to play Abe Lincoln,)

Dancing at Lughnasa is an excellent play by Brian Friel. The film has Meryl Streep in it, and is touching, but some of the gravity is lost in movie adaptation.

The Field With Richard Harris (Dumbledore) is also a good movie, and one of the first that addresses the Irish sense of Nationalism (which is a huge 'problem' in Ireland. I use the term problem because there is nothing wrong with Nationalism until it becomes discrimination; which you'll see somewhat in the film)
