Must be. What region are you from? Because the Northeast-MidAtlantic sure as shit does not use British-isms. Nor the west coast.

East coast. and from what I've seen, as far as the rural or suburbian areas go, the dialects are pretty mixed and use slang from all over the place. This isn't as true in the big cities, which for the most part seem to have their own unique dialect. But I don't really get out much, so I could be wrong.

Must be. I'm from the mid-Atlantic/Southeast and around here you'd never hear that...except perhaps a "bloody" here and there from me when I get sick of worn-out American slang.

There are so many regional dialects in America, though...not that there aren't in other countries, but if you wrote a character from New England calling people "y'all" and talking...well, the way people do where I'm from, you'd piss a lot of people off, lol.

This is true. I mean, just within the same state you can have a whole slew of different dialects. I live in the suburbs and half the time I can't understand the dialects of the people who live in the city less than an hour away from me.
