Actually, if you think Katara/Zuko is "completely nonsensical and unbelievable" I believe you need your BS-detector checked because you're the delusional one who obviously doesn't know squat about how human beings operate.

No, it didn't happen. Yes, it was always going to be Katara/Aang. But the idea of Zuko/Katara based on who they are is still a plausible one, and one that, I may add, the writers loved to add canon-fodder for just to tease/play with the fandom. It doesn't mean it had to happen; just that it could've. Just because you didn't understand it doesn't make it stupid--it just...ah, it would be mean to finish that sentence.

But really. As if there've never been other people in your life you could've been attracted to.

I agree with this. But I don't think most of the anti-Zutara sentiment is really based in canon so m uch as in fanon.

I'm not saying "dating" at all, just because it doesn't seem like a relationship between the two of them would/could happen that way (and, to be fair, I can't imagine Katara and Aang "dating" either. Being in a relationship, yes. Dating, no).

But I think it was incredibly plausible that Zuko and Katara could possibly have wound up in a relationship. Even knowing it wasn't going to happen, I loved that the writers threw that in, not (just) because of the squee-level, but because it made the relationships (in a general, platonic sense of the word) between the characters seem that much more realistic--in real life, even if there is Just One Person you wind up with, there are lots of people who seem like they could be matches as well.
And I just thought their dynamic would've been interesting.
