Yeah, I know that was probably the reason, but still - we didn't get even a glimpse of what went on in the Count's mind after the duel, and to me that made his actions and decisions completely incomprehensible. First he was cold, then he was angsting his heart out, then he was sad, then he was back to how he used to be... all this without a sliver of explanation. Later the director said in an interview that "oh, we didn't write it into the story, but actually for the Count killing Franz was a blow he never really recovered from" - well damn, why couldn't they just, dunno, hint at it or something? [/rant]

But for some reason there are only a few people bothered by this. ^^;; I suppose most people were simply too shocked about what happened to Franz (something I saw coming from miles) and couldn't care less about the Count.

Anyway, yeah, it's nice to be able to talk to someone about it. :D I'm working on Gankutsuou at the moment so everything I felt about it when I first saw it is coming back to me, but sadly there are few people left whom I can talk to. (So, er, sorry for ranting at you. :D;; )

(Also, yay for failed English *facepalm* I think it's time for me to go to bed...)

Yeah, it was probably because of the shock over Franz that they forgot, as well as the huge characterization shift over to Albert. I didn't see Franz's death coming, but I'm pretty in-the-moment when it comes to watching shows and movies, so I'm usually not thinking ahead like that, haha.

I've been meaning to re-watch it, too. The english voice-acting was pretty damn good,from what I remember.
