Don't talk about it like this particular franchise of blockbuster movies is uniquely morally valuable? Don't talk about it like this particular franchise of blockbuster movies doing well at the box office is important in any sense?

There's a difference between talking about things you like, and rooting for a corporate brand, and wayyyyyy too many people do the latter.

BREAKING NEWS: People like to see something they are interested in do well.

Apparently Nerds are learning something the Jocks have known for years. No wonder they get beat up.

I saw a headline recently about how "This May the 4th, Star Wars fans should be sad because Endgame is going to become the highest box-office film of all time"

Seriously, what the fuck is that shit?

Also, I don't understand what point you're making with the nerds vs jocks stuff

1) That headline has to have been clickbait. 2) Box office returns do influence what movies will be made in the future, but at these franchises' levels the difference might as well be a rounding error.

Of course it's clickbait, but it's still an attitude that apparently exists in the universe

there's a difference between a fan and an evangelist

like literally, i'm not making that term up. evangelists are the holy grail of users, people who actively go out of their way to get people into the thing they like and who are loyal to [brand/company/studio]

idk why this is such an outrageous concept to you just because it's such a prevalent thing in nerd culture
