Do you think there's another method that, adjusted or not, can provide consumer choice while also not using 1/3rd of a person's day and paying them chump change?

IDK, but so far capitalism is the only system that lifts the largest number of people out of abject poverty and provides them with some disposable income along with a variety of products and conveniences to spend it on, so I think abolishing it is going to be a tough sell. Not that it's not a noble cause. I wish you luck with it.
