Ugh to this episode. Dany is my favorite character, but killing off the one black female character to give a white character more angst? How about no. And killing off another dragon too. Ugh, this season. I'm really hating this season.

I'm still hoping Dany doesn't go dark side. Mostly because I don't want Jon on the iron throne. And because she's still my favorite. Killing off Rhaegal and Missandei, though? No. Not cool.

Why is Taylor so bad at bridges. Her Achilles heel

IMO she's really, really not, generally. IMO the verse-chorus-bridge structure was one of her strongest points for a lot of her career. But somehow her ability with bridges got wobbly with Reputation, and seems like it might be poised to stay that way. :(

I think it might be something to do with her trying to move into a sound/genre that doesn't come as naturally to her as the country!pop and pop!country genre(s) always did.

I'm glad there are people enjoying it. I'm a big TS fan, and I really, really don't like it. In fact, I think it's the first track of hers that I just don't have any interest in at all. but I still want Taylor to succeed, so I've been hoping like hell that other people like it more than I do.

(Well, ok, I do like the very first verse a little.)

It looks interesting. I'm excited. I love Tom Holland's Peter Parker so damn much it will be hard for this movie to fail with me.

And the fact that we get some scenes of Peter grieving is a huge relief to me. I was worried they were going to gloss over the emotional impact of what happened in Endgame almost completely. They probably still will gloss over it more than I'd like, but at long as it's addressed I'm willing to suck it up and deal.

Also, lol at Fury saying "Bitch please" because he knows how to meet a Gen Z-er on their level.

/shrug It's a mildly annoying hobby, but I don't see how it hurts anyone.

Possibly significant: He's a Stan Lee creation.

Good prose isn't the same thing as good storytelling, though, and can whitewash any number of flaws. And when combined with worldbuilding, you can get a series of "well, that makes sense -in context-" that get progressively further from the source until it's unrecognizable.

The problem with fanfic is that the bar is nonexistent, so readers will frequently go 'good prose' therefore 'good writer' therefore 'good storyteller' therefore 'good story' even when everything except the prose is objectively arse.

Yeah.

Though some didn't try at all, others seem to equate it with feathers and/or ruffles, which could be a part of it, but not all of it.

I thought Darren Criss (http://www.justjared.com/2019/05/06/darren-criss-eye-makeup-matches-his-met-gala-2019-look/) and Ryan Murphy (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/met-gala-ryan-murphy-came-his-shell-1208174 - shades of Liberace) did actually get it.

And I want to know what the hell was going on with Priyanka Chopra (http://time.com/5572816/priyanka-chopra-met-gala-2019/).

In other words, older than Star Wars, but not Star Trek. Also older than the Transformers franchise, but not older than Astro Boy.

29 almost 30

Well, I enjoy the bridge in Shake It Off. I find it fun as fuck, and I enjoy "rapping" along. I am a white girl; I have white girl taste; come at me.

Plus, that song had such infectious momentum that I didn't find the break detrimental to the overall flow of the song. If anything, the break just gave the song a springboard from which to bounce to even more irrepressible heights in the climax. A brief respite before the final kick, so to speak.

This is, of course, entirely subjective, and I acknowledge that.

It's weird to see so many examples of poor writing for female characters end with "but other than that, they're great at it!"

(Anonymous) 2019-05-07 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
You do realize RDJ stands for Robert Downey Jr. right?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-07 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe he's uncomfortable because he's basically his coworker. Asking a person if they're going to hook up with someone they work with who they're not interested in has got to be a little uncomfortable, even for actors.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-07 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Also, I wish people would stop interpreting actors saying that they like/ship a ship as meaning that said ship is actually canon/will become canon. Actors have their own personal preferences just like everyone else! That doesn't mean that they have any control over the canon as a whole.
