Tony gets the best storylines at the expense of other characters In the ensemble pieces.

I think, because "best" is such a subjective term, we just have a different perspective on this. For me, the character who gets the best storylines is the "best" part of a story (provided the actor can hold their weight, I suppose). They and their storylines are the "best" part of the story whether I like that character or not. Maybe other characters could've been the best part of the story if they'd been given the material, but they can only be as good as the material they're given (with a little leeway, if the actor is really good).

I guess for me "best" and "strongest" are pretty synonymous when it comes to evaluating a story. Whether I like it or not, the strongest storyline is usually the "best" - even if I sometimes think the story could've been better - stronger - if it had let a different character be the "best."

Your way of looking at it is a much saner way, but it's not what I do. I prefer having the characters I emphasized with as the focal point. Tony just isn't someone I understand or emphasize with, so I resent that he gets the limelight.
