Well, considering how much money RDJ was costing Marvel, maybe they decided to use him as much as possible to recoup the cost? ;)

/jokes aside, yeah, he did have the tendency to take over the team movies, which did not always work with even his own development (from his solo movies). I wish we could have got at least one film with the old team with a bit less Tony-focus, but that era is over.
