The years between the book and movie have been long enough.

Yup. If i loved a happy, funny, silly, fluffy or cracky fic, I basically hop all over like a crazy kitty with catnip. Lots of !! and quoting of the fic and *hugs* and things.

If it's angsty (not my favorite) but really well written, I'll leave a calmer comment, and a little bit of how it got me emotionally.

Those fic that are really odd, out there, different, told in an off the wall voice or something, I'll generally quote the parts I found really beautiful or affecting.

Ah, ok. In that case, I bow to your superior knowledge of how that part of fandom works. I'm one of those hermit fans who is very, very into fanfic, but not super into the social side of fandom. AO3 is home for me, largely. I visit tumblr, but don't really get involved there, and twitter is foreign territory.

I can definitely believe that twitter brings out the purity wank, though. Sorry you have to deal with that. :/

Only if I can think of something to say. I know, I've read all the posts from fanfic writers about how much they love any comments at all, even just "<3", but I can't do it, I just can't.

I've been in fandom about as long as you and I think it depends on the fandom. Mega-fandoms tend to get this, smaller fandoms don't so much.

I mean, Jeremy Crawford alone has been doing this for decades.

I dont usually leave anything but kudos, but on the rare occasion I leave a comment its always positive and either says something like OMG THIS WAS FANTASTIC THANKS SO MUCH FOR WRITING IT or I ask a question about the story.

Worked all day, I'm tired. Tomorrow is my Friday tho and I'll have 4 days off.

8 think entitled readers have always been around, but with rise of fandom and proliferation of fanfiction, people maybe see fanfic as something to consume like it's popcorn, but they don't necessarily value the creators.

If I enjoyed it, I always leave a review. I usually mention one or two specifics that I liked and tell them I'll be looking forward to the next chapter, or to reading more of their work.

I hope the storm stays small and your place isn't damaged. On the bright side if you work out of town you might get a day off? Sorry boss, no canoe!

Ok, THIS I can absolutely believe. What I was questioning was the idea that it's the puritanical crowd shaming people for their one night stand fics.

OTOH, I have no doubt that disgruntled asshat shippers would take issue with fics (literally any fics) that "break up" their OTP. Just not for puritanical reasons.

Though I guess if they're trying to make their objections seem more legitimate by claiming it's about "sexual morals," then I can see why one might call that purity wank.

Still really sick. Stayed home from work. Planned on getting some stuff done. Got nothing done.

I brought frozen peas to heat up for dinner at work and the first thing out of the bag when I went to pour them into a bowl was a pea-sized frozen beetle.

This is so weird to me. Even as someone who doesn't have sex and has no interest in sex, I assume ace is a super minority in the population as a whole...

There are people who don't vaccinate that aren't conspiracy nuts. I think for some people the fear of having a bad reaction or needles (valid fears, IMO) makes them more vulnerable to the idea that they'll probably be fine avoiding them, sadly. People feel false reassurance from seeing other families saying they don't vaccinate and none of them have died.

I personally hate getting them and I have to force myself. If I had been raised to believe they were harmful I wouldn't have gone out of my way to question it.

No PWP, just straight up fluffy comfort please. Not feeling particular about the fandom at the moment.

Oh no. I hope everything is okay and no one gets hurt and nothing gets damaged.

I agree. They should rot. Especially the ones who call the victims' families. Those ones should suffer and then rot.
