Weirdly, I'm not really into this series for the "epic scale", especially if that is understood to be the supernatural side of the story. The show was best to me back when they didn't have the budget and battles took place off-screen.

Animation doesn't work for "epic scale" for me. Animation almost always feels smaller to me than live action.

I think an animated series would work well for some of the spinoffs they've talked about.

Big disagree on the art style.

I'd love to have an art style like Castlevania for the show.

But I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't think the acting is bad...
Also I don't notice wigs unless they're Aquaman's-movie-love-interest level bad.

I agree that animation would probably be better able to capture the scope and otherworldliness of some of the supernatural aspects of the show.

But the acting would probably be about equal, and there's a decent chance it wouldn't be as good at the more human moments.

It'd be better if it was faithful. Without the character cuts.

Am I still bitter about Victarion Greyjoy? Yes I am.

Nah, they could have an endless supply of money and they'd still end up with the same shit sandwich.

Agree. The expectations are too high and they kind of wrote themselves into a corner.

Huh.

I've only seen pictures, clips, and trailers (and I do not want to see any more) and that's exactly what I got from them - bad wigs and bad acting. But I figured I wasn't getting the whole picture because so many people are so into it.

Sure, a lot of live action stuff would LOOK better and make more sense visually as an animated film or series but, unfortunately, anything that's animated will never get the same ratings as live action. The average adult sees animation and automatically assumes "this is for babies and I'm a grown up who doesn't watch stuff for babies".

I'd also like to point out that animation is not cheap at all. If you want it to look good, it's extremely expensive and time consuming.

Scripts represent a tiny friction of the overall costs. And I'm pretty sure that if someone at the helm was dissatisfied with their quality, they would have been rewritten ten times already, they have that money. They just like it the way it is.
