I am just excited for when they bring him back to help boost ratings of other movies. They literally have a deaging machine.

Where are you seeing canonical support for Stucky? Where have you seen Stucky fans actually thinking it would be canon? Fans of slash pairings have had all of that kind of hope sucked out of them like....4 major fandoms ago.

*looks at all the fic being posted on AO3 and Tumblr*

Wow, look at that dearth of Stucky fic. Oh wait...it is still the juggernaut pairing!

I have no strong positive or negative feelings toward Steve ships in general, but seeing how annoying Stucky fans are towards the actors and towards other characters... I was pretty happy that Steve ended up with Peggy and passing the shield to Sam.

Although in retrospect now I'm kind of disturbed by Steve/Sharon. Even if it's not blood relation... Steve has become the creepy uncle.

You have a lot of faith in fandom not being racist and actually have more than a handful of fics for a pairing with a black character.

I could have written that first part myself if it were about Peggy.

I know it was an AU Peg, but I'm just happy to see her have some sort of a happy ending anyway <3

.....she did before. She married and had children. She was a founding member of SHIELD. Do you think she could only be "happy" if she was Captain America's girlfriend? She has her own life.

I was more referring to Agent Carter's cancellation. I totally forgot she did get an ending lmao it must've been the MCU movie I didn't see

We saw her family and etc. in Winter Soldier.

I haven't seen that since it was still in theaters tbh

She did. She had a husband and children that she loved, and a very successful, productive professional life, all without Steve.

You’re happy they reduced Peggy to a trophy as opposed to her being her own character that was allowed to move on and have a life past steve?

Why?! Peggy moved past Steve, was kicking ass and being awesome. Why reduce her to Steve's trophy?

Right? I don't get how people stay in fandom where they hate the main stuff the fandom likes. I just don't get hate watching.

Yeah. There really is a point where people need to leave, or at least step back a fair bit, and I think secret maker has reached it.

As a Stucky fan, I actually have a theory that this is our fault! We protested so much when they tried to make Steve/Sharon happen by arguing about Steve's love for PEGGY that they interpreted this to mean this outcome is what the fans want LOL.

honestly... i don't feel this is too far off what might have happened.

not in the sense that they needed to quash steve/bucky, that was never on the cards. but i do think they were gonna put steve with sharon but it got such backlash and crit, and not just from fandom either which was the thing, that they pulled both the r-ship AND sharon from upcoming movies.

like she's just GONE.

but this left them with a dilemma: there was no other suitable woman to put steve with. natasha was very firmly put into friends-only territory and wanda was more like a kid-sister to him. and marvel were frankly too cowardly to put him with either bucky OR sam at this point.

so who was left that wouldn't get ppl talking about how terrible and rushed it is?

well... his r-ship with peggy never got much heat, and there's at least some little nods in other movies, aou, that he still thinks about her. so why not send him back in time to live with her for good and get his happy ending? fans won't mind that at all since they didn't the first time around, problem solved!

some of the 'but what about peggy' chatter might have fueled this line of thinking as well, but ultimately we got this weird 'steve goes back in time and sits on his ass' ending bc they wanted to give steve his happy ending but had to upend his and her character to do so.

i actually like steve/peggy myself but i don't get the feeling they did it bc it was the best choice y'know?

Honestly, it will change nothing for shippers? The annoying ones will continue to be annoying, the less annoying ones will continue to do their thing? I hope you have other sources of pleasure in this fandom than shadenfreude:)
