The reaction from so many is just bizarre to me so I've thought about it a lot. I kinda wonder if it's mostly people who came into the show in the last couple seasons and so don't really get how much RL time has passed since teenaged Maisie played a preteen. And even more years have passed in universe. Nothing about Arya in the last few seasons reads as a child.

Same. She's very clearly an adult now, so I honestly don't get why people are squicked. Yes, she was a child... in the past. But she's not now. So... I don't get it? People grow up.

It's actually a popular "anti"/fandom puritan belief that if a character was ever shown as a child, making porn of them as an adult falls under pedophilia. I'm confused but not surprised.

Well, only if you knew the person when they were a child, but yep. If two childhood friends have sex with each other when they grow up, they're both pedos.

i really don't get why we object to people disliking seeing someone they knew as a child in sex scenes

that's a good and healthy thing. why would we encourage any other reaction?

Because it's a ridiculous reaction? Because it infantilizes the younger person? They are an adult, so treat them like one.

Also, it's incredibly shitty to the actors. Imagine a 30-year-old Kiernan Shipka or Maisie Williams. Are they supposed to never play a sexy role, never have any sex scenes, never appear naked or in underwear because they are the little girls from Mad Men and Game of Thrones?
