Which is hilarious, because Italy, Spain and Portugal are all on roughly the same latitude and people living in Latin America are partly of Spanish and Portuguese descent. It's the most ridiculously arbitrary line to draw. Especially when you consider the range of skin tones you get in all three of those countries

You're not gonna see any disagreement from me - I'm not even American, so my definitions of 'white' and 'non-white' are a little different. But if most of the discussion is based around modern US cultural norms, that's what we've got to work with.

Weirdly enough, "whiteness" is not actually just about, or even primarily about, skin tone
