Why?

Is there a time limit on ships and ship speculation? People have been thinking about Kirk/Spock for over half a century. And while the secret poster could have read their first Draco/Harry fic in, like, 2000, and been thinking about this since then, they also could have watched the movies or read the books last month and then gone looking for fic.

Seconding this. There's no expiration date on when people can get into a new fandom or pairing without being "lame" or whatever. There are plenty of massive pairings out there that I'm aware of, have never really gotten fannish about, but have always thought, "Maybe someday the stars will align and that pairing will just click for me and suddenly I'll be like "now I love it!"

Personally I love when people get into a fandom very late in the game, and I get to see all their opinions and ponderings, and some of them are opinions and ponderings I had when I first got into the fandom six, eight, ten years ago. I find it delightful.

I sort of get where AYRT is coming from, because Draco/Harry just don't seem interesting enough as a pairing to sustain that level of interest? I know that's just me but still
