*I* get four shades darker in the summer without even trying. And that's with me wearing sunscreen if I'm going to be outdoors for any length of time.

If she's deliberately tanning? Then yes. Yes her skin will get that dark.

Let's leave aside the stupidity of deliberately tanning because her skin's going to be shoe leather when she gets older.

One of the benefits of having an ethnic background back to the Mediterranean is that sunburns aren't really a thing. And if it happens, it's minor and it turns to a tan pretty quickly.

The bad news is that it's possible to be out in the sun too long without realizing it. The Italian side of my family has had skin cancer issues because of it. That's why my parents used to watch me like a hawk when I was kid, and douse me in sunscreen.

This is an actual thing. No joke.

This. People are so fucking retarded these days.

Right? I avoid the sun because of a history of family cancer so I'm like that comic about the chick in the bikini all 'the beacons of Gondor are lit!' but if I DID go out in the sun I get brown as fuck.

Yeah, my friend is Sicilian and in the summer when she's out in the sun, she gets so dark that people constantly assume she's Latina. One of my coworkers at my last job was Greek and the same thing would happen to her.

They both look totally and completely white in the winter, but the moment they start getting any sun, their skin gets incredibly dark. It's a Mediterranean thing.
