??
You haven't read/watched HP have you?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Both. Snape repeatedly risked and ultimately gave up his life to save Harry and everyone else.

Well I disagree, but am not in the mood to really contest anything. Though I will say he acted in self interest, and if he did anything for Harry, it was most in the interest of pleasing his dead mother than Harry himself, IMO.

i'm sorry, this is very unrelated, but i'm outright giddy to find someone who seems to have managed to miss all of the discourse around this very topic

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What am I missing exactly?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
To clarify I am aware that there are people who are pissy that Harry named his kid after Snape.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-13 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
are you? because i can't for the life of me figure out why you would think there is no challenge in redeeming a character a lot of people hate

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see what relation that has to being a racist and a bully to kids he was supposed to be teaching

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I would say "giving up your life to save everyone else" kind of negates being mean to Neville.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't agree.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
So being a mean teacher is so horrible that giving up your life isn't enough to atone for it?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not like that's the only thing he ever did that was wrong. He atoned for joining the Death Eaters, but not for the unrelated shittiness that he carried forth in his life unrelated to that that he never apologized for, regretted, or atoned for.
