Oh man, I was reading a fic just last night and some anti had left a long, condemnatory comment claiming it was pedophilia, regardless of the fact that the character was aged up to 21 in the fic (from 17 in canon), and it was an AU so it was honestly pretty close to original fiction anyway. But no, apparently it was still "pedophilia" because "people were still picturing the canon character in their minds when they read the fic, and the canon character is a child!" Even though the actor people would be picturing is in their 20s anyway, lol. Nope! Still pedophilia according to this weirdo.

It was wild.

Also, "loony fuckstick" has me chuckling. Thank you.

Yeah, these people's irrational refusal to use the word ephebophilia when warranted is almost funny to me. Not that I would agree with them if they were instead claiming, "Shipping X/Y is ephebophilia and you're all disgusting!" But it would at least be factually accurate that the relationship between 17-year-old X and 40-year-old Y was ephebophilic in nature.

By insisting on using the word pedophilia when it's blatantly inaccurate, they make it clear from the get-go that they can't be reasoned with.

These are the kind of people who think only "pedos" care about the difference between the two. In my experience.
