Re: "I hate when people..."

Have imaginary conversations with another person in chat format to make a point by making the imaginary other person say things nobody has ever said.

A real example from Tumblr:

TV writers: "We've decided to make more lesbian couples that are femme/femme because butch/femme is too stereotypical and we want to be more progressive!"
Me: "How about some butch/butch couples?"
TV writers: "But that's not appealing to straight men U-UH I MEAN LOOK WE'RE PROGRESSIVE."

Gal who made the post, where are all these TV writers making these statements about being progressive for writing a femme/femme couple? No one says that. This conversation couldn't happen. Just say "I want more butch/butch couples on TV" and be done with it, no need to make yourself look clever about it.

Nobody involved thinks the conversations actually happened though

But they're supposed to make you think the original statement being argued against was actually said and is typical.
