I know Cersei is capable of vulnerability, but yikes this episode. The last few seasons she's been established as having become cold and always scheming because she has nothing left, and this episode the writers were like, "She's just going to stand around and then cry into Jaime's arms." Like, OK. Actions have consequences? And the consequence to Cersei's actions is she dies privately in the arms of her lover twin.

Cersei gets a ham-fisted mini-redemption because isn't that what you've always wanted to see? :D

Oh btw the other Queen is gonna go mad because of reasons, that was Good Writing too right? Because SUBVERSION. :D

I'm so tired of the excuse of "it was foreshadowed!" and "subverting expectations!" Yeah, but they need to tie together to make sense and to have brevity to them. Otherwise, we can just watch all the Game of Thrones recap videos instead. They're shorter.

Yup. Foreshadowing is no substitute for actual character development. They were more interested in surprising audiences than they were in writing actual good plot.

If Jon ends up on the throne I'm calling bullshit on 'subversion'. How does the long lost legitimate heir going through trials and becoming the One True King subvert anything? I guess he doesn't want it, but as for the trope itself it's pretty standard.
