I never really have this issue. I watch two new shows at most every season and have a blast. You just gotta be more discerning and work on your backlog more.

i'm only on episode 2 of sarazanmai tbh but i kinda felt this way after finishing mawaru penguindrum. i don't think it's necessarily bc there isn't any other great anime out there, but rather a combination of the fact that mp just had a bunch of elements i really loved all in one show. i've seen plenty of anime i enjoyed watching, but i guess mp had exactly that ambiance*~, that atmosphere*~~*~* that made it stick with me for years. i'm under the impression sarazanmai will probably give me the same feelings so i'm crossing my fingers i'm not disappointed tbh!
