This is the thing though. Anything in the series post-current-latest-book that people don't like is being blamed on the show-runners, regardless of whether they got the plot point from GRRM or not. He can change his mind about it now, seeing how unpopular it is and knowing it'll only boost his sales (if he ever publishes another damn book that isn't a prequel or side-quel) to have things happen differently. Unless Benioff & Weiss come out with a list of the plot points GRRM gave them to work with, he gets all the credit and they get all the blame.

Oh god, at the rate the man writes, if he decides to change major plot points in his unpublished books at this point, none of them will EVER see the light of day. I've already given up on Dream but even Winds is toast. GRRM can't compromise on expedient choices. You just know if he wants one outcome to change then fucking everything leading up to it will have to be revamped. ARGH.

Agreed. I heard that he's a bit annoyed/disappointed that Benioff & Weiss left out certain plot points (like Lady Stoneheart), but without enough direction from the books as to how to take them once they ran out of books to show more directly on-screen, what else could they do? I doubt GRRM explained the WHOLE planned plot.

Plus it's a bit rich, coming from him - I read somewhere that one of the reasons for the delay of the next and subsequent book is because he's killed off a character he now realises he needed to resolve some plot-thread or other.

They said George told them about it, though it's possible the circumstances will be different in the book.
