It's pretty clear from a bunch of stuff the actors have said that this wasn't planned in advance - D&D just decided to speedrun the end of the series and couldn't give less of a shit what people think about it.

That's unfortunate. I've never watched the show, but I've heard a lot of grumbling about how it feels rushed and that sucks. Too bad they wouldn't hand it over to someone else to finish.

The showrunners were offered the money to do several more episodes this season, and turned it down, so the fandom sort of wants to eat their hearts.

Some of her supposed paranoia and madness seemed like justified distrust and pain to me. I mean, if I had some of “supporters” she did, I’d be damn stressed and mentally out of it too. Her jump to killing so many innocents is just that; a jump. There’s no in-between who she was before the episode and who she was after. Up until her going “BURN IT ALL!” she acted like someone I would expect to act if they were in her shoes.

No shit Sherlock, pretty much everyone could see her and big dragon sonny burn a ton of innocents. The thing is that UNTIL that happened, she was reacting to her circumstances in an understandable manner. Then she goes and kill people in a huge leap of logic. It’s HOW and WHEN it was done that lots of viewers have issues with.

Hell, her journey to villainy is a huge point of contention in general.

the anons above you are saying that Dany was angry and upset about watching her friend die (which would be a normal reaction for most humans) but that it is not a sufficient reason for her to suddenly go cray cray and kill a bunch of innocent people. they are saying this is bad writing.

They could have made is so believable. It was so easy. Just have Rhaegal live until AFTER the bells start ringing. Then have someone kill him. There you go, a reason for Dany to go crazy.

it would have been more believable if they'd had her kill a few innocent people out of paranoia waaaaay earlier in the series. then you could point to it and say "see? her crazy was showing there!"

I'm glad people are finally coming around to the fact that GOT is simply not a good show! I stopped after season one! Acting is terrible in some areas (which is made worse by fact that other actors as Peter Dinklage is a fantastic actor and shows up the terrible actors even more) and the show initially relied on boobs (to the extent that porn actors were hired on set) and still relies on shock value, rather than actual well thought out writing. Oh and all of the rape, what the hell, writers?
I do hear the books are quite excellent, however.
