TW: Classism

For those of you who play multiplayer team-based games, whether it's MMORPGs or tabletop or FPS, do you have a preferred general class?

If so, what is it? Tank, DPS, heals, support, crafting, some other role? Warriors, Paladins, Rogues, Wizards, Clerics, Rangers, something else?

Or does it differ by game?

Are there any you NEVER find enjoyable?

I generally like mages, because I prefer to have some distance between me and the action. I feel like I can be more strategic and see the full playing field, and AoE/distance attacks are neat. Plus, magic. In real MMOs, I've played white mage, though it can be a little stressful to keep everyone healed up! Most single-players let you toggle between light/dark magic though so yeah.

Second choice would be some kind of rogue with daggers/light swords. I like being speedy!

Tank is tough for me. I don't like being slow and it's hard for me to tank very well. I guess it could be fun in an MMO but generally, I'm a coward so like that distance.

I always play DPS. Preferably Rogues. Mostly because I find it easiest to build/skill- I play games to unwind and for me, the best way to to this is to just get a high DPS character going and stab shit. Doesn't take nearly as much planning as being a decent support or healer. And I'm not a fan of tanking.

I don't really have a preference.

In WoW, I played DPS (warlock) for my raid group. But in instances, I healed (resto druid) or tanked (bear druid).

In OW I play 1-2 characters on every role.

I usually start out as some kind of support DPS, and, as I get more comfortable, transition into healing. I did this in WoW (Shaman > Priest) and while I'm currently still just doing support DPS in FFXIV (Red Mage), I do have a LVL 50 scholar in the wings for when I want to try healing.

I always played a CN Thief. Liked the skills, liked the ability to do a 'good' thing when I wanted to, but also be fine with stealing and the occasional murder.

Usually a drow elf, they were awesome.

I typically favour healers, my main in WoW is a resto druid and has been for 10 years now and I'm not ever going to switch from her.

I do have one of every class though but healers are the type I'll usually main. Though if I do go DPS it's going to be a ranged class of some sort mage/warlock/S-Priest or something of that ilk.

But rogues are fun too, mostly because of the stealth and I my druids off-spec is feral purely for kitty-form.

I like tanking, defending the teammates, all that.

I gravitate towards pure glass canon classes. Mages, snipers, etc. I also like crafting, a lot.

I NEVER play a healer or support, unless I absolutely have to (like when I used to play competitive PvP stuff, if my group needed one and no one else was available). I'm good at it, but I find it to be the most boring thing.

Support or Tank just because my aim isn't good enough to play DPS. (But I do try sometimes.)
