This is my view. If people want to do "if you like this, consider tossing something my way" I'm okay with it. I'm just old, and remember all of the things we used to do to tell TPTB that we weren't making money off their properties, so let us create and consume in peace. Now I'm worried about the monetization of fandom leading to there being a crackdown on fanworks. And I miss the vibe of "I create for you, and you comment to me; you create for me, and I comment to you." I feel less of a part of a fandom community now. (Which, tbf, is also due to how fandom is set up now, versus the forum days and LJ/DW days.)
