This seems like a weird choice to make, as a secret, in the sense that it's almost inevitably self-defeating

anyway, yeah, it sucks when popular things are Not Your Scene but you can't stop hearing about them. I really do sympathize.

Amen. And toss Endgame in there for me too.

It's one thing to see/hear all about this in fandom spaces, but on my facebook, google searches, and youtube for just a few? I feel like I can't go anywhere online without running into conversations parsing the latest episode/character motivation or making future predictions.

Agree. can't stand GOT or anything Marvel related.

Unfortunately for you OP I think the state of the final series is only going to cause more talk and chatter about it.

Godspeed to you managing to avoid it all, I don't envy you.

The one thing I'm hoping for is that every GOT secret that was submitted immediately gets proven incredibly, hilariously ironic and wrong, like what happened last week

I hear you. This and Endgame are going to dominate the secrets for a while, I think.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-18 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotta give it some time after the finale. People are definitely going to talk about that.

Some things are just popular. I was never a fan of Teen Wolf and there were a lot of secrets about that for a while. It will pass eventually. People are allowed to talk about things they have feelings about.

This community goes in intense waves sometimes, especially since the traffic reduced compared to years past. I got sick of seeing that one image from Supernatural what felt like every single night but I just scrolled by. I know it's tough but unless you submit loads of secrets for other things, the popular stuff is gonna dominate because those people are bothered enough to make secrets.

Just chiming in to say that I love it, even as someone who isn't a fan. It makes me remember when fandoms were things people actually talked about, not just reblogged on tumblr.

I do like that part

I don't mind the over abundance of GoT secrets and all of that. What does bother me is how many people IRL will ask you if you watch it and then, like, overtly judge you if you say you don't. Many GoT fans seem to think literally everyone watches GoT - like they think it has some kind of universal appeal or something. It really, really doesn't.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I have such a hard time recommending it to people. I live in a place where not many people have seen it, and so I kind of want to, but at the same time would have to warn them about all the sexposition and rape and other violence and general horribleness because I'm not going to let some poor unsuspecting person just wander into that. It's definitely not for everyone.

I don't mind it so much here.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
But I read Buzzfeed and I tend to at least read headlines and so when there are literally ten different stories about the most recent episode, it's kind of annoying.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-18 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
same here. can't stand the show

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I can't wait until this show finally fucking ends and then people stop giving a shit about it. I'm so tired of seeing/hearing it everywhere.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt that will happen. It's just this pop culture juggernaut now, I'd expect people will talk about it for some time afterwards.

Don't worry...

We'll always have Snapewank.

Same, OP. For years, I have been waiting for GOT to be over. Almost there so people can STFU about it!

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't give a shit about Voltron, so you know what I did?

IGNORED IT.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, this is how I feel about Star Wars every time I'm in an English-speaking fandom space.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Game of Thrones' popularity never bugged me, but I don't have anyone nagging me about watching it. Since I don't have HBO, the show itself is easy to ignore, and no one is forcing me to click on articles about it. Pottermania was so much worse, and I actually liked Harry Potter.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-19 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, same. I don't care, people need to quit asking me if I watch GoT.
