Text: While I enjoyed Origins' story, the gameplay wasn't my cup of tea, and it sounds like all the subsequent games are even more frustrating in that regard. So I'm overall ambivalent about DA4.

However, if they announce that one of the characters in the game (especially as a companion) is him?

I will be all over that.

(Admittedly, I'm mostly in it for the voice. But he is an intriguing character who never got any closure in Origins, so...)

I mean... I have to say, I think you heard wrong. The gameplay in Origins is the slowest and clunkiest - it's not a critique per se, it's just a more tactical experience with constantly pausing it. DA2 is much faster and a little bit more of a button-masher - overall, much easier (for better or worse) and definitely more visually satisfying with jumps and killshots of almost comic book proportions. DA3 tried to balance it a bit, though an intentional semi-frustration is that they cut healing spells in lieu of limited per-battle potions so you had to focus a little more on making each second count.

Seriously, though. DA:O was the most difficult in terms of gameplay. And, for whatever my opinion's worth, the most generic in terms of story.

It was probably a combination of hearing wrong and poor word choice while making my secret. Based on what I've seen and heard about the other two games, they wouldn't appeal to me for a variety of reasons, and the thing you mentioned about the health potions in Inquisition only adds to that feeling. Thanks for the explanation of the differences, though!

This is very familiar but but for the life of me I cannot figure out who you mean...
Personally I agree wih the anon above. Origins was taxing, but DA2 smoothed it out a lot, DA:I had a nice combination of the two.

Here's video of who I'm talking about. No spoilers for why he's an interesting character, but a clear example of the voice;

(I probably should have used his human form in the image, but I prefer his mouse form.)

Thanks! I don't usually play as a mage so I completely forgot about him, I agree about the voice though, very nice~

I literally shouted YES out loud.

Mage origin was always my favourite and I was so disappointed Mouse never turned up again.

Given his last lines ("Keep your wits about you, Mage; true tests never end"), you really would have thought he'd show up again. There were even two prime opportunities for it (either being the one that posessed Uldred or the one who teaches you how to become a mouse yourself) and they didn't go for it. Pretty frustrating.

(I like to imagine him teaming up with your group in DA4 because he's aware of what Solas is up to and DOES NOT APPROVE. You meet him in the Fade, Solas' name comes up, and he says a much more eloquent variation of "Oh yeah, that guy, he's an asshole. I'll help you beat him.", though of course he has his own agenda that can be altered depending on your interactions with him. Either that or, since the game will almost certainly heavily involve Tevinter and we know they're capable of enslaving spirits, he's pulled out of the Fade as a reluctant helper.)
