(Anonymous) 2019-05-20 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, there are two guys in my main fandom that used to be super close friends but seem to be more distant lately, and I have the feeling that it's because of the tinhat-y stuff people say online. I mean, I'm not positive that that's why they don't seem as close, but they've made comments about how people would be surprised by some of the outrageous stuff people say to them. (Although there have been periods in the past where they haven't seemed as close but then got super close again so who knows if this is just a temporary thing.)
I mean, do I kind of ship it in a hypothetical way? Sure. If they were both single and compatible orientation-wise (of course I can't say for certain that they're not; bisexuality exists, but...proooooobably not) then I think they'd make a really cute couple but I'm sure as hell not saying that on social media, or anywhere where they could see it, or try to come up with conspiracy theories to 'prove' that they're having a secret affair or whatever, or even write fanfic or anything like that. I just think it to myself (and, I guess, now, say it here, but no one knows who I'm talking about) and quietly enjoy their friendship for what it is.
