Let me start by saying, most of the individual parts of the ending are great. The only problem is how they rushed it. If they had taken the time to draw it out, it would have been a masterpiece.

The only part I didn't like was Dany's death and the 10 or so minutes afterwards. It was the most anti-climatic death ever. He just...stabbed her, Drogon threw a tantrum, flew off with her body, and that was it? How did they know Jon killed Dany? Did he just tell everyone he did it? WHY? All he had to say was, "She went on a ride on Drogon."

I did like the idea of Dany being killed by her lover by being stabbed through the heart.

And then we have a flash-forward with a bunch of people I barely remember joking about who should be king? I expect they did that because they had no idea how to explain why Grey Worm didn't immediately kill Jon OR why the Dothraki/Unsullied hung around.

Now, I actually liked where each Stark kid ends up. They got happy endings and I enjoyed that. Sansa got her independent North. Her dress and crown were on point. Arya is going to explore the West, never settling down. That is what I would expect of her. Jon gets to live his life in the one place he ever felt truly at home with his best friend and wolf. We can have a spinoff rom com between Jon and Tormund.

Bran was the hardest to accept. I didn't see him as King but it sort of works? Bran will be a truly benevolent leader. I think he will allow his small council to make most of the decisions while he consults them using his vast knowledge. I almost see him living for hundreds of years until he finds a new Three-Eyes Raven to replace him as King.

I got the one thing I wanted, Brienne writing Jaime's triumphs in the book. FUCK YEAH. That means my girl Brienne is the friggin' Lord Commander of King's Landing. HELL YEAH! My favorite character Brienne got a happy ending.

I cannot believe they Bilbo Bagginsed the end, though.

Finally...........HE PET THE DOG!

Ha, I never thought of that. True. He probably honorably went and confessed or something.

I expect they did that because they had no idea how to explain why Grey Worm didn't immediately kill Jon OR why the Dothraki/Unsullied hung around.

I found it totally unbelievable that Grey Worm didn't kill Jon immediately, given what he'd already done to the Lannister prisoners.

I hated every part of it and thought it was a joke. I don't think Bran as king works as all. He's as much a Stark as Jon is. He's going to have shitty advisors. He's going to get himself killed doing something noble.

No, he's clarivident.

When has Bran EVER been shown doing something noble?

Re: SPOILERS

Only because he hasn't done much of anything. He's rarely been involved in situations where he could. I don't think there's much evidence that he's going to be that different. Sure he can see the future. But he's remarkably inactive. There is no evidence that he knows anything about being a ruler or knows anything about dealing with politics and with the nobles that are left in Westeros. I just don't buy it. Someone is going to manage to slit his throat.

I figured that was the point. They picked a ruler who would let more knowledgeable people handle the realms. Also, he can't have kids all they are moving away from leaders chosen by blood line.

So instead let's have a succession crisis every thirty years. Sounds great.

Cuz the whole bloodlines thing was working out so great.

Bran as king felt very unfulfilling to me. It’s like someone described to me a situation where a tour of ppl work for something and the guy who was in the group but didn’t really do anything and didn’t really care for the throne until the end is the one who comes out on top.

That’s...not a case for being a good king.

Ghost getting his dad back was the only thing I'm going to be perfectly happy about.

I love Sansa as Queen in the North, but her family have all gone and even Brienne won't be with her. She'll have Lords and people bowing to her but it just sounds really lonely to me.

LMAO I said the same thing about Jon getting away with it because he could just say she took off on Drogon after they dracarys'd the ugly chair. Who knows why? She's crazy.

She felt like taking a nap, but you know... all the furniture in King's Landing was made of wood so...

"I did like the idea of Dany being killed by her lover by being stabbed through the heart."

Ah yes let's kill the rape victim with an item that can be very phallic and is often used as a joke for phalluses. That's totes great, right?

Nice stretch, yoga goat.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. Swords and knives/daggers both end up with jokes on "size comparisons" with dudes wielding them. And given the ending dick jokes, I really do think they were that tasteless especially given the kiss going on.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
What did you expect him to kill her with all of a sudden, swiftly, unplanned, without any resistance from her? Did you want him to bludgeon her in the face with his hands while she screamed? Did you want him to throttle her as she struggled? Or do you prefer a Mortal Kombat fatality move where he inverts her ribcage and severs her head at seventeen different angles?

Yes, weapons are often phallic. Many people throughout this series were stabbed through the hearts and torsos and faces with dick-shaped blades. Dany wasn't targeted for this treatment just because she was a rape victim at one point. It happened to more non-rape victims than anything else.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Rocks exist. Poison exists. Numerous ways of killing people exist. Given the treatment of her overall and the idea that killing slavers is a slippery slope to killing civilians who did no wrong (gee, that's not a terrifying thought to someone non-white is it), I have little reason to think they weren't going "okay but what if this, because of all the sexual charge around her"

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I really don't think you've thought this one all the way through.

I'll grant you that rocks exist among the rubble (though I'm not even going to ask how you think it's better for Jon to beat his love to death with a rock), but where the hell was Jon going to get poison from on such short notice, when 3/4 of the city was destroyed?

The sword was convenient. It's a battle, and it was on his person. That's it. Jon had a ton of things going through his mind, but I'm sorry he didn't take your comfort into consideration while trying to preserve the future of all humans as his entire world was falling apart.

I just love the idea of Jon hiding a rock behind his back during their whole conversation.

Yeah it is great. Sorry they didn't kill her with one of the many guns laying around. I guess they should have burned her alive or crucified her?

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Or, you know, a rock. Or poison. Or anything that isn't a phallic object while kissing her.

Re: SPOILERS

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2019-05-21 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol. You wanted Jon to beat her to death with a rock? That is your grand plan? Or poison her wine so she can slowly die like Joffrey? Damn, you really did want her to suffer.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
NYART

Right? How is "make her suffer horribly" better than the so-called phallic method that was at least quick?
