Then he should be white then by your logic.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to hear more about your theory that there are no black guys named Tim Goodman.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? Do they think every black person is named either Daquarius or Laquisha or something?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to hear yours that there is no one with Asian heritage with a name like that. Hypocrite.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The point is that it's an American name so it makes sense that an American would portray it. What type of American is irrelevant.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why not an Asian-American?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
What's wrong with what we got?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you not been paying attention to what the discussion is about?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I have and my question still stands. The Tim Goodman portrayed by Justice Smith, an American, is based an American character. Why is this not adequate for you?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you trying to be obtuse?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No, answer the question or leave the discussion.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Except it's already been answered. You seem to be just looking to make excuses as to why an adaptation of a Japanese property should not have any meaningful Japanese representation.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a disingenuous reply and you know it. If I wanted to play the same game, I could say you're making excuses for your black-centric racism, but we both know nothing productive would come out of that discussion.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing disingenuous about it. The entire discussion is about lack of Asian representation in an Asian property and you're making excuses as to why it's ok and pretending to not know why others are bothered by it.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
If you're gonna pretend you're concerned about Japanese representation in a Japanese property, say Japanese instead of Asian.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
My concern for Asian representation isn’t limited to one type.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
But mixed race clearly isn't

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I would be perfectly ok if the character was half-Japanese.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
What actor would you reccommend for the role?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Koyu Rankin.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Why? He's eleven.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-22 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Don't see why that matters but Ryan Potter then.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally I'd agree, but in the game in question, Tim actually WAS white. I have a feeling that wouldn't have gone over well, either.
