Ehhh, I agree there's sometimes too much entitlement, but I feel weird drawing the line at 'unless you paid for it'.

If I sign up for a fic or art exchange and it's expected that the creator will work (within reason) with my likes and dislikes, it's not entitled (imo) to be upset if I receive something that literally has all of my dislikes and none of my likes.

+1. As someone that's gotten screwed over on Yuletide more years than not, I don't really think it's entitlement to expect someone to follow through on an obligation they placed on themselves.

Yes. And if someone is writing a gift!fic for someone and purposefully includes something they specifically said is a squick for them (happened to me once), that's just not cool.

I feel that the standard etiquette of a gift exchange, where you will be writing a story for someone else, even if it's likely not your gifter, counts as "paying for it". Everybody involved is taking on a commitment, yeah?
