Not much. Smoked a bowl, read a few chapters of the book I'm currently reading, watched the Oakland A's game. Gave my dog a bath. Pretty ho hum day.

Lessie - work, train home from work, dinner at the neighbors, got a bit further with the "clean room before mother arrives on the weekend" project (namely, moved massive dresser cleaned top, underneath, behind, moved BACK massive dresser)... exhausted now and in bed... full day, really.

Preparing for the next round of storms that are starting tonight. The flooding still hasn't gone down from the weekend ones so not looking great for people in the flood zone. I did buy some mini LED lamps so if the power goes out we can eat least navigate.

i was honestly thinking "absolutely nothing!" when i read this question before forgetting i went to two staff meetings this morning and finished and sent off logo work for a client all this morning

my days just feel rly long lately so this morning feels like yesterday and like today has only been the last few hours chillin in bed on youtube w my cat lmao

Dreading work tomorrow. My boss has been criticizing me A LOT lately and coming down really hard and I've been trying not to let it get to me but she said I was acting "butthurt" (her words) and we had a meeting yesterday and I cried. ;;; And she said she wanted me to stay if I wanted to stay and I do but wow, awkward. I'm going to try to act normal tomorrow but huge yikes.

Writing question about race

I'm writing a story and really want to include a character that's based on a real person that I really admire and respect. But he's black, I'm white, and I keep seeing all this "white people shouldn't write about characters who are anything but white because it's racist" and I really don't want to be racist or offend anyone.

Thoughts?

what the actual fuck. no, no...white people only doing white things is how you get racism. fuckin tumblr I swear to god...

there is something to be said about coopting a culture that isn't yours under the mistaken belief that you know everything about that culture from the outside (habits, traditions, language, community, religious practices, etc) but that doesn't sound at all like what you're talking about. writing that a character has a different skin color is just normal writing.
