Working equals money but school was so much fun. However, I like money more so working.

I've had some jobs I liked. I always hated school.

School. Sooooooo much less responsibility. Maybe it's just because the job I'm in right now is super shitty and high-stress, but I'd give anything to be financially secure enough to just go back to school and breathe.

School is a million times better in literally every way except, unfortunately, money. Learning things is interesting and rewarding and work is meaningless and soul-draining. Also, the communal aspect of school is really nice too.

I hated school so work for me by default.

I like work because with my work I get to actually help people. But I also learn new things every day, so it is the best of both worlds.

Working, but outdoor work. I miss it.

What kind of work did you do? What was the physical demand like? I'm at my wits' end in a customer-facing job and I'm desperate for something a little more "on my own", so I've been looking into a few outdoors-y kinds of jobs, but I'm not sure if I'm being realistic or not.

I've worked at stables and on a bigger farm. It's a lot of hard work, but you can keep things like lifting reasonable with the right equipment. I love landscaping too, and I've done some demolition and renovation work, detailing cars. It depends a lot on who you work for. I've been lucky in that most of my work has been for hands off bosses. Not the stand and shout types. Some people have very unreasonable expectations when it comes to physical jobs, and the pay isn't always great. Do your own research on what safety equipment you need and be prepared to walk away if you're not trained or assisted appropriately in any situation.

I have physical problems (not caused by the work) but otherwise I would have been able to easily do that type of work well into my 60s like a lot of people I worked with. If you don't have the muscle for it you will if you keep doing it and it's satisfying to see yourself get done with something in half the time it used to take you.

Even a change like getting on a night crew to stock shelves at a big chain supermarket will be more fun for you if you like minimal interaction.

If you prefer indoors with less people, data entry, research, archiving and the like might be more your thing.

School was way, way more fun even when it was more stressful.

But I like being an independent adult on my own and that means working is a necessity. ALAS.

Work, most of the time. I mean, I like learning, but I always hated homework, and 99% of the time I can leave my job at work when I go home. And for most of my school career, including university, going home meant dealing with one or the other of my parents being fucked up, so I couldn’t concentrate on projects or homework even if I wanted to. Now that they’re both dead, maybe grad school wouldn’t be so bad.

I like not being broke all the time like I was in school. But maintaining the professional respectability front gets annoying.

Work, because while sometimes it gets a bit all-encompassing, most of the time I can just go home at the end of the day and not worry about the fact that I'm not continuing to work into the night. The thing with school is that it's never really done. There is no off time, just time you have chosen not to work on school stuff, and that made me feel lazy. There was always the option of doing more studying, putting in more work on that paper, reading ahead, or researching a side-topic.

I did love learning and writing papers. Fortunately my job involves a lot of that, but I get paid for it and no one thinks I'm lazy for not working more than 40 hours a week at it.

If you mean college, I guess I like that equally with work. If you mean high school, I prefer work and also I prefer having a truck run over my foot.

If homework didn't exist, I'd probably say school. But homework was always so soul killing to me. I just don't know how people can handle the open-ended relentlessness of it. I never could.

Same, nonny, same. I was an A student, but I constantly felt like I was barely keeping my head above water. Disregard the dickbag above, they obviously have no idea how hard anxiety and depression can make things - especially open ended things like homework.

Yeah, if I could just sit in lectures all day, I would definitely choose school over work. As it is: I choose work.

Work. I've had to deal with shitty people either way, but at least at work I get paid for it, and I get to leave it behind when I clock out.

School, just because of the lack of responsibility. But I do like money.
