There's nothing wrong with you - and if there is, well, take solace that there are people far worse off than you in the kink department, myself included. What you described doesn't even strike me as 'weird' but maybe I've grown jaded in that department, having been exposed to everything imaginable through erotic fiction. Also, in regards to horror fandoms, this is just par for the course; the further down the rabbit hole you go, you'll find plenty stranger even outside of fandom's underbelly and within the realms of mainstream. Also, I'm of the mind that any character, regardless of origin or sin, can be sympathetic if a writer is skilled enough.

Oh I've got plenty of weird kinks, but I guess the main theme running through them has been no violence and consent all around, so no matter how weird my kinks got it always had that veneer of "well at least everybody is consenting and no one is getting hurt", even if I was twenty pages deep in some oviposition tentacle story or something lol.

I'm not very familiar with horror fandom, like I said my main exposure to it is basically a lot of artists I follow drawing someone like Freddy Kreuger with his dick out or Predator and Alien or something. I guess I didn't realize there's like this whole fandom full of people who are hot for like Jason or Pennywise.

It's kind of fascinating honestly! No shade either, my own flavours of weird tend to be just as strange even if it's a different genre.

Now I'm curious what sort of kinks you have that you feel are "worse" than this though.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with the character but I don't see how it's any worse than liking Pyramid Head. He's not a serial killer per se but he also doesn't have a face that anyone's ever seen and never talks so that has to take points off somehow, and he's pretty brutal. I mean, it's definitely not like The Shape of Water. And he has plenty of fans, shipfic, you name it.

And while we're on the subject of Silent Hill there's also Walter Sullivan who is human but very literally a serial killer. And I hated him until I was in an RP where someone played him as a sympathetic character and I got totally into it.

I've seen a pic here and there of Pyramid Head but I had no idea he has a big following. Isn't he portrayed as kind of sexual in the game though? I could swear there's a scene in the game that at least somewhat implies he goes around fucking things, but I've never played it so I could be misremembering! I'd always assumed there was something in the game that kind of lead people to finding him sexually attractive.

Also don't know Walter Sullivan in particular but I'm no stranger to people finding human serial killer characters sexually attractive, that's something I just don't normally get. I stayed far away from Hannibal fandom because the whole "uwu sexy gay cannibal man" thing freaked me the fuck out, same with Killing Stalking and the overt fetishization of kidnapping, psychological torture, killing and rape....

And yet here I am going "you know what, this weird electrical serial killer dude is totally a sympathetic character" (in the hands of this author at least, the devs totally condone and enjoy all the weird ship!fic and ship!art going on but the actual canon of the game is pretty threadbare).

I feel like a bit of a hypocrite even though my misgivings about the other fandoms have mostly been in my own head.

Truth be told, Dead By Daylight is mostly sympathetic characters. As far as complete and irredeemable evil goes, you’ve only got the Clown, the leader of the Legion, and some of the crossover characters. Everyone else has understandable reasons for their actions.

I feel like Pyramid Head has a lot to answer for in regards to monstrous/violent characters becoming more popular in shipping. Or maybe just Silent Hill in general, idk. I had a huge thing for Claudia Wolf when I was 13/14. Walter at least had a slightly sympathetic backstory, though young me will never forgive him for giving me that cursed doll. :<

I linked the fic in another comment on my secret, although this one might not scratch a non-con itch if that's what you've got going on, I'm sorry! There are definitely ~feelings~ that get involved there and the serial killer eventually stops obeying the rules laid out by the ancient entity/god thing.

Still an awesome fic in my opinion though, I went into it with a completely blank slate so I'm almost enjoying it as if it were original fiction that just so happens to be tangentially related to a video game lol.
