She survived longer than most. It's not the same thing as being clever but she was doing something right.

Iirc ASOIAF never really presented her as "clever" but I'm not sure what the show has been trying to do. Could be said of a lot of characters of late to be fair.

I only read the books and never watched the show (no hbo) so how did she die? dragon fire?

Nothing that spectacular. A building fell on her!

lmao wat

a BUILDING? was it at least on fire or something? getting crushed by a building is a hilarious way to kill a character that's been on a show for eight seasons. like dropping a bridge on captain kirk lol

KL was under attack and she's underneath the Red Keep and yup essentially rocks fall and everyone dies.

But the hilarious thing is another character digs through the wreckage and finds the bodies in the finale and there's like one neat pile of death rocks but just mere inches to one side there's open space, which makes it look like if she'd been standing just to one side it would've been fine.

Like I get the argument that giving her an anti-climactic death that she absolutely would not want (Cersei is the type to want a blaze of glory) is the way it goes sometimes. But like many things in the final season it just came across as rushed or done "because!"

even worse, she died sobbing in the arms of her twin. it was some real bullshit.

imo she was basically "useless" in season 8, other than being the "antagonist that sits on the iron throne". her pregnancy storyline went nowhere (apparently she was supposed to miscarry but that was cut), the valonqar storyline with jamie got hit by a brick.

i am currently reading "dance with dragons" and so far my opinion on cersei is that she desperately wants to be (and to be seen) as the "female tywin lannister" but definitely fails. and she masks her failure with cruelty.
