Questions you have for people in other fandoms

I have one so I figured maybe someone else might.

The Walking Dead

(Anonymous) 2019-05-31 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know that much about it but I've heard it gets worse and I know people hate Negan(?). I know already there are lots of death because of the premise, but is there a point that I should watch to and then stop? Are the first 2 or 3 seasons or something the best? Opinions welcome!

I'm enjoying season 1 so far.

I never even got as far as Negan, tbh. I've tried watching twice now and I don't think I made it past season four? I just started hating everyone so much (except Carol and Daryl) because they were so DUMB.

Thanks! I think Daryl and Glenn are my favourites so far.

I actually have enjoyed the entire series thus far, and I love Negan... I mean, as a villain. He's the scariest villain they've had on the show and my favorite. Yeah, he does awful stuff, that's kind of the point of him... being the villain.

But I think you should keep watching until YOU feel like you want to stop. Because you just might end up enjoying it all. ;)

Thanks! Yeah that's a good point. Is Fear The Walking Dead worth a go too? I'm not sure when it ties in with the main show?

I haven't enjoyed FtWD as much as TWD... it's all right. Just all right, in my opinion. The characters don't feel as complete and compelling to me as the characters on The Walking Dead ... for me, TWD is something I make time to watch every week when it's airing, I can't wait on an episode... FtWD is something I catch up on once in a while when I get around to it... but again, judge for yourself... what you enjoy might not be the same thing I enjoy :P

Thanks. I might check it out at some point.

Anon from above, I enjoyed FtWD for a bit but then I had the same problem as I did with TWD, which is that while I wasn't minding the plot, I hated all the characters so much for being so dumb that I couldn't care anymore.

Oh, and it ties in with the main show around season 4 of FtWD I think? Just very recently is there any connection, for most of the show so far there hasn't been any connection.

For me, I think the best stopping point is season 5, episode 11. I always felt that was a good closing point for the characters before it became more of a soap opera.

Thanks. I guess we'll see how I feel if I get that far.

Each season I watched had arcs I enjoyed and arcs I hated, so I really don't recommend skipping around. The show focuses on a pretty large amount of characters, and episodes tend to alternate focusing on different people. Even if you wind up hating one group, there's probably another group you really like.

ia with kaijin that season 5 ep 11 is a really good stopping point. It's right after imo one of the best arcs in the series and right before one of the worst.

thank you!

I ended up stopping halfway in season eight. I dunno, I just got tired of it and haven't gone back. I'm still reading the comic though.

Sarazanmai

So, er, how is the fandom? I love the anime, but I avoid the fandom like the plague because of the hotbed of discourse I envision this kind of show attracting. But I'm getting desperate for discussion about it. Will I find anything worthwhile like that in the fandom or is it just wank and character bashing masked as social justice?

From what I've seen on Reddit and tumblr, there's a considerable group of people who insist that Enta is a "incel proto rapist" (quoting a friend quoting someone else). So.

Yeah, I don't interact. There's a good bit of discussion going around too, but the SJ wank is pretty thick.

Ugh x infinity. That's exactly one of the things I was afraid of. Sucks to be right. Thanks for the answer, though!
