Re: Theists and atheists, what's your general opinion of the other?

Atheist raised Catholic. I always thought God and Jesus were like Santa and people only said they believed in them. It was very confusing to sit in a room full of adults who were all pretending to pray like I was to a made up person. I'm still confused as an adult, and I don't really believe people do more than pretend to be religious to look good to other people who pretend to be religious, unless they have an actual delusional disorder.

I would like to say I don't think less of religious people, but I am more wary around them because I've had some very negative experiences. I only have a few friends who identify as religious, and it's only to keep their families happy and be part of the community events and stuff. They're closet atheists.
