Yeah, no clue why Tony thought Ultron would be a good idea. Then again, I have no idea what his idea was to do with him? Cuz a bunch of AI controlled robots would not be able to stop Thanos. Nothing short of preemptively destroying the stones would have stopped him.

I think Tony is a lot like Thanos. Not the kill half the universe part, but the, "I'm smarter and stronger than everyone else and I should make decisions for every body," part.

DA Steve also has this trait where he doesn't want any governmental control over his actions. I think many superheroes are like this - they have the power and they act affecting many people.

I mean look at the history of government decisions in the MCU and tell me that's a bad thing though.
