Can I ask you an honest question? Because I feel like I've missed something and I'm trying really hard to understand a friend of mine better. She also adores Bucky and thinks he's the best sidekick ever, but-- maybe I've just glossed over something, but it's always felt to me like Bucky is barely even in the movies? Is it taking comics into account too? Or is it one of those things where a favored fanon interpretation of a smaller role filled in the gaps in characterization?

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude at all, I'm just genuinely confused and I'd like to know more.

It is also based on the comics. He is more of a sidekick in those. He is mainly a sidekick in the first Captain America movie.
