ohhh...

Agreed.

Curious about the new hair color, I googled more images of Lucy Liu and went down a rabbit hole of older photo shoots from the 90's/early 2000's. I had forgotten how gorgeous she truly was back in the day - she's still beautiful now but wow.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-04 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That haircolor is very aging.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-04 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That color/style combo definitely ages her, but is there any reason to think it's a long-term thing?

she's gorgeous but that is not a flattering hair color.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yikes, I’d heard about the change but hadn’t seen it yet. That’s... pretty bad!

(Anonymous) 2019-06-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes, she looks much older with blonde hair. Nearly didn't recognize her.

I've never understood the idea that older women have to dye their hair way lighter or blonde because they're "too old" to have darker hair or that darker hair makes them look older, I've always found that to be the opposite :/

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, it's to hide the gray. Gray roots are less obvious against blonde hair.

You can dye grey hair/roots with a darker color, too, just as easily. And if your hair is naturally darker, the roots are gonna show no matter what if you go lighter/blonde.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that you can't dye it dark. It's that if you don't keep up with it religiously, you have bright white/gray roots and dark hair, which contrasts more than bright and blonde. Obviously, you can dye religiously, embrace your skunk stripe, or just go natural. But someone wanted to know why older women tend to go lighter as they get older, and that's the reason. It's not because blondes look younger or any of that nonsense. It's because gray is closer to blonde than it is to black.

Yes but. Dark roots show more against blonde bleached hair. A lot more than grey hair does in darker hair. And i should know, I've got dark brown hair and good number of greys and they're just not that noticiable.

The 'you'll look younger' notion is dead wrong.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
That's assuming you have any dark hair left!

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Shh, grandma's having one of her bad days. Just smile and nod.

If it's *all* silver/grey/white, best let it be! My ex mom-in-law did her grey hair in blonde dye, i guess, and it looked horrifying.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not sure why tabaqui's arguing this. The answer you're giving is clearly right.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily. They're both not wrong. If you bleach greying black hair, you still have to religiously watch your roots because if it grows out, you don't just see the grey hair but the black roots as well. So it's just as annoying to care for.

Oh no I love her but that is not a good color.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's so harsh!

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
And they are usually so great about her styling.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I assumed it was supposed to represent her hidden dissatisfaction with where her life is at the start of the season, not enjoying living in London, not sure if giving up on adoption was the right thing, etc. At least her hair color is something she can control, right? Maybe it will go back to dark soon now that she's back in New York.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks to this secret, I, another Asian bottle blonde, went out and dyed my hair immediately, because if Lucy Liu couldn’t make that look good...

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean if you're gonna pick a superbly unflattering shot of her blond hair, then yeah. But there are plenty of her utterly working it. https://imgur.com/NZYT7UE.jpg

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... uh. To each their own. I don't think this looks any better.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if it's the hair, but she looks very sunburnt.
