(Anonymous) 2019-06-06 12:58 am (UTC)(link)I'm not a Stucky shipper and was annoyed by the ending of Endgame. A lot of people are. It has nothing to do with Stucky.
Here we go:
* Yes, Steve was in love with Peggy. However, in Civil War, he was specifically told by her to move on and kissed her niece (now that's a whole other thing but moving on).
* In the movies hence, Steve has showed that he has moved on. He is head of the Avengers, has made friends and his main concern has been Bucky. Regardless of whether it's interpreted as 'romantic' or not, the fact is that since discovering Bucky is alive, Steve's main concern has been to find and then deprogramme Bucky. He has not even mentioned Peggy until Endgame.
* Peggy had her own life and a kickass life it was.
* Hence, Steve going back to her undermines both her and him. She is now relegated to 'love interest' despite her awesome life and he is now an asshole. Why? Because he had no right to go back and interfere with her life like that. Some people argue that it's a time loop and he was her husband all along. It still creates issues.
* Steve also becomes an asshole because going back means he has to hide and ignore the fact his bff is being tortured by Hydra and killing people, including Tony's father. Steve has a life in the present and has been happy the past what three?Four films? There has been no hint whatsoever that he's missing his past or mooning over Peggy. His going back is a total asspull by the writers of Endgame.
*As far as Nat goes, I'm pissed with how Endgame dealt with her character as well. She sacrificed herself for Clint- a guy who went around killing those he deemed 'bad' because he was mourning his dead family. Nat, on the other hand was working hard to redeem herself. Clint showed no sign of remorse for murdering others. But hey, he has a family so she's more disposable. (So the implication is if you're a woman and don't/can't have a family, you're worth less than someone who does. Yep, fuck you Marvel!)
But then, I was already pissed at Infinity War for the totally OOC way they killed off Loki

Clint originally was supposed to die, but it was changed to Natasha because someone insisted she not be deprived of the honor of being the one to make the sacrifice. It had nothing to do with her being disposable. Besides, you say Nat was working hard to redeem herself. Was this not one way of doing so?

Yeah, I totally agree with these two points in particular, and I don't ship Stucky (or care that much about Bucky, really.)
I do care about the core Avengers and thought Nat got screwed over.
Additionally, BruceHulk was...fucking weird and fat Thor was out of nowhere. Like, I don't care that he was fat, but he's a god so how does that even happen when he doesn't technically get hurt or anything...but he can pack on weight?
I just thought so much shit was sloppy.
Tony's my boy and I'm not too unhappy with his ending, though, since he was going to go anyway, I suppose it was okay.

Both of which are...fucked.
Won't even touch that 'Steve was always the husband' crap, because...really? WTH.

The directors said it was a separate timeline, but the writers said it was the same timeline. So depends on who you want to believe / which version you want to go with. I tend to go with writers over directors.

I tend to go with neither - Steve never did such a stupid thing.
