I think there are plenty of people who aren't shippers who didn't like it and some shippers that didn't like it, didn't like it for other reasons.

Of course, given that alternate timelines (and alternate universes since Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far from Home is from one) are now canon, I think any MCU ship is absolutely possible in a myriad of different ways.
