I still love Buffy and Angel until Cordelia's end. But Firefly is un-fucking-watchable. It was bad in the early 2000s, and it's just plain stomach-turning now.

I don't know, I rewatched Serenity a week or two ago and it's very watchable once you get take into account that it's half a season of TV episodes mercilessly compressed into 5 to 10 minute sequences

Serenity is watchable, yes. That's all that idea should have been.

Thank you! I'm so sick of peeps going on about how perfect firefly was. Perhaps there was a reason it was cancelled? Hm...

It's definitely one of those shows that you have to watch around the parts that suck. But the good parts of the shows are still so good...

I can sympathise. I liked Buffy as a kid, and I still love FireFly, but Whedon... Jesus

What is the nature of your objection?

All the killing oof of characters I like mostly.

I also find him somwhat objectionable as a person, but that's really very removed from how good his work is

I still think most of his work is good. I still appreciate most of the ways he expressed his feminism. I wish he hadn't cheated on his wife and lied about it for years, because that was a really shitty thing to do, but I've never been someone who believes that cheating makes you a bad person. To me it's just another thing on the personal character scale.

Er...but it doesn't say anything particularly good about a person's personal character? How do you reconcile that with them not being a bad person?

Whedon turns out to be terrible. And he's not so great at doing movies. But I still love most of his tv shows. Buffy remains particularly awesome.
