134. I'm 28 and still think that show rocks. Glad it helped you out. Such good memories.

138. Oh no not another "I lose respect for them" secret. I guess I lose respect for people when they judge someone for the shows THEY HAVEN'T SEEN. I am pretty sure doing that puts you in the fail column under everything the heroes of that show stand for.

165. I don't why she seems to be so sacrosanct, that if you voice a dislike of her you get the smack down. Her and Jenny bother me because actual important people in the Doctors life (ex: anyone but Sarah Jane Smith and a tiny shout out to Jamie) get forgotten and these two are supposed to have UBER importance in his life after one episode? Forget it. Trying to make them important without making them earn it turns my stomach.

Actually her and Jenny both bother me because they're the most horrible Mary Sues I've seen on the new series to date. They are wretched and watching their episodes and them was painful, painful, painful.

I don't read very much fic, so while I understand basic concept of a Mary Sue, some of it is lost on me. Maybe that's just another reason they bother the shit out of me. That one of the aspects of a Mary Sue is unearned adoration and trying to force the viewer to like her before it would be natural for anyone to feel so strongly and for very little reason, am I correct?

Not just that. Usually they're beyond perfect chars who show up out of nowhere, are 2D, and everyone is supposed to love them.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The moment they introduced her and she was all smug and wifey, all I could think was, who the hell does this lady think she is, and why does the Doctor not smack her??

Well, I think you know where I was trying to go. The secret doesn't exactly say who they liked or what they liked about the show, it just lashed out at everyone a little irrationally...

OMG YES.

That's also why Rose got annoying to me after season 2. He never mentioned any of his other companions but she's special.

I suppose it doesn't help that in the new series they're saving the Earth and/or Universe (pretty much) every episode and it's way more intense than the classic series, but come on.

165: A-FUCKING-men. I'd love to see more respect for the older characters, both in fandom and on the show, Why should we care about River or Jenny more than, say Sabalom Glitz (who was in two episodes) or Susan, or Tegan or Leela or... With very few exception, the older characters never get talked about by anyone, while all the new show characters are slobbered over by everyone. Argh.
