God, I wish he would leave canon be. I just hope the BBC will keep their eye on him, considering DW is considered a "family show."

Not that he's much better. I have little respect for RTD- not that much, but enough. However, the way he mistreated Rose's character in season 2 irks me to this day, among other things he's done to the canon.

The way he mistreated Rose's character in the second series? What about the fourth, where he basically turned her into a complete nutjob willing to risk the collapse of all existence to "dimension cannon" her way back to the Doctor?

And I honestly don't see how he kept the Doctor asexual, since, well, Doctor/Rose (even if it's only strongly implied that he has feelings for Rose), plus he never vetoed any sexual implications between the Doctor and Jabe, Reinette, River and anyone else I'm missing. Oh, Astrid. (By that, I don't mean that it's canon that he slept with them - except probably River - just that there was allowed to be hints in the dialogue/acting of mutual sexual attraction.) As showrunner, I think he'd have the power to nix that from other writers if he didn't care for it.

(Not that I personally care, since I don't agree that the Doctor's asexual. But, well. *shrugs*)

I honestly think that, where Mary Sues, RTD and Moffat are concerned, it's a case of six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Donna was RTD's BEST female character of New Who (IMO), and most likely just because he didn't take her all that seriously, or personally care about her. When they brought her back, he actually had to write her like a real person instead of either a comedy act or a wistful self-insert who gets to snog David Tennant.
