Not the secret maker, but Wicked was Maguire's best book by far, which is weird because it was his first and generally writers get better. It's like he had one good idea and everything else has been mediocre attempts to recreate it. I actually didn't think Son of a Witch was that bad, but if you do read any of the others, don't expect them to be as good as Wicked.

Oh ok. I won't be expecting much, then ;-)

I had no expectations towards Wicked, either. I read it because of the musical (which is, probably, the lamest reason ever^^) and I was pleasantly surpised with how amazing the book is! :D
