165. Eh, give her a chance. All of my friends have crucified me for saying this, but I think she could be a really interesting character when she's not in the (shitty) position of knowing more than the Doctor. And she was really put on a pedestal because the future Doctor knew that he had to give her the screwdriver and tell her his name, the same way he knew that he had to record all those secret messages for Sally. It's a wibbley wimey timey wimey thing, so give it a chance before you hate. But then again, I'm also a huge Martha fangirl...so I suppose that I'm a minority in this fandom...

I agree about River Song. I don't think she was presented well at all in the ep but I honestly don't think she's a lost cause totally if they fix things and make her right.

I can't say I hate her. I'd rather see someone else, but if they bring her back I hope they make her a better developed character.

And I agree that the Doctor had to give her the sonic screwdriver so the plan would work and all the stuff about the name was simply so the plan would work.

What bugs me is how their relationship, as hinted at by her, could be implied to be romantic in nature and there's people speculating that she's his future wife -- like, WTF. Her whole flirty thing just reminded me of Rose's naivete and thinking she'd live with the Doctor forever and ever in the TARDIS with a white picket fence and there was no one before her as important as she was in his life and there would be no one after her.

The Ninth Doctor was against domestic BS and I miss that attitude in the Doctor. He's an alien who wants to be free so don't tie him down with petty romantic nonsense.

I prefer the idea that she's his mother. I could settle for that one. The marriage thing seems really creepy and alarming. And not the least bit canon.

Actually I read an article saying that we would see a River Song/Doctor marriage in the next episode....although it did not specify which version of the Doctor they meant. Sorry bb.

I'm just kind of irritated by how the producers/writers handled Rose because they had to know that Billie would want out eventually, and that Rose's pedestalness would make viewers hate her possible "rivals" ie Martha and River Song. But then again, I don't really ship Doctor/Rose, so...

If they do that though, it would be like blasphemy to me. The Doctor already said he's been there done that with the family stuff and if I wanted to watch a soap opera I'd go watch Soapnet.

I liked Rose in the first season. They totally messed her character up.

The only ship I want to see is Doctor/TARDIS.

Uh, so they just meet and decide to get married in the first episode of whenever the 11th Doctor shows up? I don't think so. Especially since the 11th Doctor I want will be the total opposite of the 10th.

I started really disliking Rose when she was hating all over Sarah Jane Smith in School Reunion and saying "OMG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE." And then when the Doctor kept mentioning Rose and making Martha feel like total shit it was just like, wow can we please just forget about her already--you've forgotten about all your other companions including your own damn granddaughter.

Yeah, School Reunion really cemented my Rose hate too. It started in Boomtown when she bitched Mickey out for daring to go on a date months after she'd ditched him for the Doctor, and increased in Tooth and Claw when she was such as ass to Queen Victoria.
